DESCRIPTION:Davie County Public Library announces a 2018 "Davie Reads: One Community/One Book\," a community reading project with sessions once a month throughout the year. The series has grown out of patrons' expressions of interest in meeting regularly to discuss books across multiple genres\; a recent patron survey collected suggestions for reading selections which will be chosen by the group. The library will supply a limited number of book copies including when possible electronic copies. Participants will have the opportunity to serve as conversation facilitators on a volunteer basis. The group will meet the second Thursday of each month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM beginning January 11\, 2018 in the library's auditorium. Attendees will socialize for the first half hour and conversation will begin at 7:00 PM. February 8-- Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks. Forging a deep friendship with a Wampanoag chieftain's son on the Great Harbor settlement where her minister father is working to convert the tribe\, Bethia follows his subsequent ivy league education and efforts to bridge cultures among the colonial elite.
