College Prep Series: FAFSA + Financial Aid Basics | Cognition Davie

Join Krysta Scott, High School Guidance Counselor with Rowan-Salisbury Schools, for a hands-on workshop designed to help students and families better understand the FAFSA and the financial side of preparing for college.

During this session, Krysta will walk families through the FAFSA process, explain important financial aid basics, and help students and parents understand what to expect as they complete the form.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend together. Families should bring a laptop or computer so they can follow along and work through the process during the session.

Topics will include:

• Understanding what the FAFSA is and why it matters
• Getting started with the FAFSA form
• What information and documents families will need
• Understanding basic financial aid terminology
• Common FAFSA questions and mistakes to avoid
• Important financial aid considerations and deadlines
• Time to ask questions and get guidance along the way

This workshop is part of Cognition’s College Prep Workshop Series, created to give high school students and their families practical support as they navigate the college planning process.
